Monetizing a blog is hard. If you are blogging for fun, with no intention of making money through blogging then it might not be so much hard work.
But if you are like me, you want your blog to bring you some income, then you will have to think of many ways of increasing your earning potentials.
Here are 7 ways to earn extra income as a blogger.
Become an Author
I wrote three books in the course three years. I am also in the process of editing another book. I am not earning much from them yet, but many authors have earned six figure sums from their many e -books. The most important thing to understand is that you have to vigorously promote your books in order to earn that kind of income especially if you are a self published author like me. Learn ways to help promote your writing to earn the income you want. I was part of Nick Stephenson’s webinar recently and I find his promotional methods quite helpful.
This is an area that is new to me. It is a great way to share your content. Some people say you should stay away from podcast if you do not have a great voice. I disagree. As long as your voice is clear and understandable, you’re good to go. For every voice out there, there is a listener. Come on, give it a go.
People love visuals, so showing your contents on YouTube is another great way of putting your business before many people. If you are okay being in from of a camera, why not?
4. Become a Coach
There are many blogging coaches out there, telling people how to become blogging millionaires. Beware! Some do not have good track records. I love Jon Morrow. I have taken one of his coaching classes. He is very good at what he does. If you want to a blogging coach, you could learn one or two things from him.
5. Become a Copywriter
Many bloggers are copywriters. You can write articles for people and organisations. It is a good way of opening up another income stream. This is an area I am looking into for the future. After all, I love writing and it is a great way to earn an extra income.
6. Ghost Writing
Here’s how it works– you write for other bloggers but they publish it as their own. You can make a pretty tidy sum this way, especially during the summer months when most bloggers want to take a break from writing.
7. Affiliate Marketing
This is a very popular way for bloggers to earn an income. In fact, some bloggers rely mainly on the income they make from promoting other peoples’ products. You will have to learn the strategies and the best companies to apply to. I am currently registered with Amazon and Shareasale affiliate programmes. I recommend Amazon affiliate programme to start with, if you are a new blogger because amazon just about sells everything. You must ensure that you recommend products you have personally used or products that come highly recommended by trusted friends and family.
